Title: New additions to the DiJembe crew.

Date of article: 2007-11-22 | Hits: 2555 | Rating: 5 | Permalink

Rock up at Dijembe and you?re bound to find a few new faces -one of them is a little long, but don?t worry there?s nothing wrong?besides, he can?t help it, he is a horse after all. Bullet, Gracie, and Shadow, out trusty equestrian buddies just made a new friend. Rocky, fondly known as Mr. Balboa, stands at 15.8 hands and is a proverbial gentle giant.  The good news for DiJembe guests is that 3 experienced riders can now enjoy the beauty of the indigenous forest from horse-back where rides were previously only available for couples. If the idea of the world?s highest bungy jump scares you less than the idea of horse-riding does, have no fear ?the DiJembe horses are as gentle as they are cute. Michelle, the trail guide, also takes care to moderate the pace of your exploration through the woods depending on experience and confidence levels.

Lorraine Sizakele Nkomo, our resident ?Jill of all trades?, also recently joined the crew. A tourism student straight from the buzzing metropolis of Johannesburg, she?s lending us a pair of helping hands while she completes her practical. Pop by and you?ll most probably find cooking up a mean breakfast, pottering around the garden, or just humming her way around the lodge making sure our guests have no reason not to wear ear-to-ear smiles.

Psssst, don?t let the secret out, but rumor has it that Elana, the super-chef, is adding deserts to her delectable dinner menu. That?s right, soon delicious lasagne, roast chicken, grilled fish, home-made pizza, and cottage pie meals will be followed by a death-by-sugar-rush pudding.

Lastly, just to remind you that if you?re after something a little more private by way of accommodation, that DiJembe Backpackers lodge also offers self-catering accommodation a mere stones throw away from the lodge itself. A spacious double en-suite, 4-sleeper, or twin room are available at affordable prices. Rooms share living-room area, fully-equipped kitchen facilities, and out-door braai (BBQ) area. Enquire at DiJembe reception and we?ll gladly take you up there and show you around.

Well, that?s it folks. Watch these lists for regular updates on what?s happening at DiJembe Lodge. Stay well and travel safely.
